My name is Imogen Smith and I am based in Hebden Bridge, in the heart of the West Yorkshire Pennines.
Studying Fine Art at Manchester School of Art, I graduated in 2020 with a specialism in portraiture (Oil Painting). Just prior to my degree show, the world went into lockdown and I was able to spend that time honing my skills and from this was commissioned to paint 3 gorgeous dogs – I loved it. And so my journey began… I worked on new techniques and with different mediums, and finally settled on pastels which I believe ensures a more lifelike result – and I think the feedback I have received is testament to this. I began taking commissions regularly, and my business really started to shine through the festive season! From then on, I have worked on over 100 portraits of the most gorgeous animals and pets.
I love to collaborate with people to capture that special image. I have worked on young pets, through to those that are sadly no longer with us. A wonderful memory of a beloved friend.
Growing up surrounded by nature and wildlife has inspired and heavily influenced my work – and owning two beautiful dogs of my own gives me a deeper understanding of how much our furry friends are very much part of the family. I love capturing those individual characteristics that you know and love!
If you follow me on my social platforms, you will be able to see some work in progress videos to give you a clearer idea of how it works.
